GAIL (India) Ltd. has announced a delay in completing the Rs 12,940-crore ‘Urja Ganga’ gas pipeline project, extending the timeline from June 2024 to March 2025 due to issues with right of use (RoU) availability. The project, covering 3,306 kilometers from Jagdishpur to Haldia, Bokaro, and Dhamra, aims to expand natural gas access to eastern states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. Supported by government funding, the pipeline is expected to integrate over 90 geographical areas and enhance the region’s gas-based economy. Despite delays, gas flow has begun in several cities along the route.
