The US Embassy in India has altered its visa appointment procedures, particularly for B-1/B-2 interview waiver appointments in New Delhi. B-1/B-2 visas are for temporary business or tourism purposes. While interview waiver appointments will still be available in New Delhi, there will be fewer options in other cities, affecting applicants in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai. However, applicants won’t need to travel to New Delhi unless found ineligible for the waiver process. Additionally, USCIS clarified that individuals on B-1/B-2 visas can search for jobs and attend interviews in the US. There are also provisions for non-immigrant workers facing unemployment to extend their stay legally.
