In an interview, Kerala’s Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan highlighted the historical animosity between Congress and CPI(M) in Kerala, citing the bloodshed of party members. Despite both parties being allies at the national level under the INDIA Bloc, he emphasized the deep-rooted hostility on the ground in Kerala. Satheesan noted that the Congress’s aversion to aligning with the CPI(M) stems from the killing of at least 50 Congress workers by the latter, particularly in North Kerala. This history, he stated, makes any collaboration with the CPI(M) in Kerala unacceptable to Congress members and martyrs’ families.
