The final phase of polling in West Bengal on June 1 began with violence in South 24 Parganas, where a local mob threw VVPAT machines into a pond. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) reported that at 6:40 a.m., reserve Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and papers were looted and thrown into a pond near Benimadhavpur FP school. The situation was quickly controlled by nearby police, and an FIR was lodged. Fresh EVMs and papers were provided, ensuring uninterrupted polling in all affected booths.
