Training for approximately 30 Vistarapilots has been paused after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) raised concerns about alleged rule violations. The pilots were undergoing conversion training to operate Boeing 787 aircraft, but questions arose over the Zero Flight Time Training (ZFTT) procedure. Vistara received a show-cause notice from DGCA, prompting discussions with the regulator. DGCA found that several pilots hadn’t completed required training within the stipulated timeline, impacting their next stage of Supervised Line Flying (SLF) training. This development comes as Vistara faces flight cancellations due to pilot shortages. CEO Vinod Kannan assured efforts to hire more pilots and adjust operations for resilience.
