K.L. Rahul has been included in India’s squad for the Men’s Cricket World Cup despite not having played a competitive game since May. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad of 15, with Rahul and Ishan Kishan as the two wicketkeeper-batters. The squad is largely made up of the core group from the Asia Cup squad. Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma, and Sanju Samson will be standby players. The squad can be altered until September 28 without giving a reason, allowing time to assess the fitness of Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah. R. Ashwin and Washington Sundar did not make the cut as the team opted for spinners who turn the ball into left-handers.
