Tensions have eased in Nagorno-Karabakh as humanitarian aid deliveries have resumed following an agreement between Armenian separatists and Azerbaijani authorities. The closure of the Lachin corridor, the sole road connecting the region with Armenia, had led to food and medicine shortages in the area, sparking concerns of a humanitarian crisis. Azerbaijan’s deployment of troops near Nagorno-Karabakh and along the border with Armenia had raised fears of renewed conflict in the region. The resumption of aid deliveries through the Lachin corridor and the Aghdam road has been facilitated by the Red Cross and Russian peacekeepers, providing much-needed relief to Nagorno-Karabakh residents. Both the EU and the US have called for the reopening of these routes for humanitarian aid.
