Tata Motors is set to start electric vehicle (EV) production at the Sanand plant, acquired from Ford India, from April this year. The company plans to commence production with the Nexon EV and aims to further scale up production for upcoming EV models. Tata Motors Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, acquired the Sanand facility for Rs 725.7 crore in January last year. The manufacturing plant has an installed capacity of 3 lakh units per annum, extendable to 4.2 lakh units. Tata Motors is also planning to introduce upcoming EV models like Curvv EV and Harrier EV.
