India’s state-run oil refiners are showing reluctance towards contracted Russian crude supply due to increased enforcement of US sanctions, making the once-thriving trade more challenging. Indian Oil Corp., the largest state-owned refiner, is expected to reduce crude received under term supply, while Bharat Petroleum Corp. and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. have decided against firm commitments for contracted oil next fiscal year. Talks with Russia’s Rosneft PJSC for about 500,000 barrels per day faced tepid response due to concerns over supply disruptions. Refiners are exploring alternative suppliers like Saudi Arabia, but contracted crude from the Middle East and West Africa may be costlier.
