Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned that Azerbaijan is planning a “full-scale war” against Armenia, following a recent skirmish on the border that left four Armenian soldiers dead. Tensions between the two countries have remained high since Azerbaijan re-captured the Armenian-populated region of Nagorno-Karabakh last September. Pashinyan expressed concerns that Azerbaijan might launch military action in some border areas with the aim of escalating it into a full-scale war against Armenia. Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev stated that Armenia, not Azerbaijan, had outstanding territorial claims. The two nations have been engaged in peace talks, but a breakthrough has not been achieved.
