In response to increasing temperatures, several districts in Assam, including Kamrup (Metropolitan) which covers Guwahati, have adjusted school timings. Starting May 27, classes in primary schools will run from 7:30 a.m. to noon, while high and higher secondary schools will end at 1 p.m. This adjustment, affecting both government and private schools, aims to mitigate the effects of the heat. Students are advised against wearing blazers, waistcoats, ties, and are allowed to wear sandals for comfort. Despite these measures, the India Meteorological Department clarified that the conditions do not meet the criteria for a heatwave.
