The Indian government has reduced the prices of 41 widely used medicines and six formulations for treating diabetes, heart, and liver diseases. This includes antacids, multivitamins, and antibiotics, as per a notification by the Department of Pharmaceuticals and NPPA. Pharma companies must immediately inform dealers and stockists of the new prices. This move, decided at the 143rd NPPA meeting, aims to keep essential medicines affordable. With over 100 million diabetes patients in India, the price cuts will significantly benefit many. Last month, the Department also revised prices for 923 scheduled drug formulations and 65 retail formulations, effective April 1.
