Premium innerwear brand Jockey is scaling back its distribution network in smaller towns after expanding in response to the COVID-19-induced shift of urban workers to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Page Industries, which owns Jockey rights in India, doubled its exclusive showrooms and retailer network during the pandemic. However, with the return of office-goers to cities, the company is rationalizing its retail network in smaller towns, trimming around 2,300 multibrand dealer outlets in the three months ended September. The decision is driven by profitability considerations, focusing on exclusive outlets while adapting to changing market dynamics and economic uncertainties.
