Controversial physicist Ranga P. Dias, associated with the University of Rochester, may see his third paper on room-temperature superconductors retracted within a year. Co-authors of a March 2023 study published in Nature have requested its retraction, expressing concerns over data integrity. The paper claimed lutetium hydride becomes a superconductor under high pressure and nitrogen addition. Amid an ongoing university investigation, co-authors wrote to Nature alleging misrepresented measurements and dismissal of concerns by Dias. At least six co-authors reportedly received a defamation lawsuit threat from Dias. Nature previously retracted two papers by Dias, prompting scrutiny of the vetting process.
