After an eight-year hiatus in recruitment, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and other state transport corporations in Karnataka plan to fill 8,719 vacancies following the retirement of 13,669 employees. The shortage of drivers has hindered the full utilization of the transport fleet. The recruitment plan includes hiring drivers, conductors, and technical staff across various corporations. The move comes after financial strains during the COVID-19 pandemic led to a pause in regular hiring. The state government has approved the recruitment of 6,500 drivers and 300 mechanical staff in the first phase, addressing workforce deficits in the transport sector.
