The U.S. State Department praised India’s recent general elections as the largest exercise of democratic franchise in history. Held from April 19 to June 1, the elections saw the BJP-led NDA secure a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the State Department declined to comment on the absence of Muslim representation from BJP in the Lok Sabha, stating it’s an internal matter for India. While 24 Muslims were elected to the Lok Sabha, none were from BJP.
