The West Bengal government has announced a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees, effective from April 1. This adjustment is expected to benefit over a million government employees and pensioners. Similarly, the Sikkim government has also raised DA by 4%, effective from July 1, impacting its employees and pensioners. Recently, there was a 4% increase in DA for central government employees and pensioners, effective from January 1, 2024, bringing the total DA to 50%. Consequently, demands for constituting the 8th Pay Commission have surfaced among central government employee groups.
